Children with ADHD were divided into two groups according to the medication used: methylphenidate (MPH) group and atomoxetine (ATX) group. Before treatment and after 1- and 6-month treatment period, IOP was measured by Goldmann applanation tonometry. There were no statistical diff…

AbstractMany scientific papers reported that an unbalanced gut microbiota could lead to or worsen neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD). A dysbiosis may then be observed in the course of development and mark a dysfunction within what is called the gut-brain axis. The aim of this systematic review is to investigate potential evidence of dysbiosis in children and young adults with NDD compared to controls. Using the PRISMA guidelines we systematically reviewed studies that compared the gut microbiota in NDD participants (with an age inferior to thirty) to the gut microbiota of controls, regardless of the data analysis methods u…

AbstractAttention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) comprises disturbances in attention, emotional regulation, and reward-related processes. In spite of the active efforts in researching neurofunctional correlates of these symptoms, how the activity of subcortical regions —such as basal ganglia—is related to ADHD has yet to be clarified. More specifically, how age may influence the critical changes observed in functional dynamics from childhood to adulthood remains relatively unexplored. We hence selected five core subcortical regions (amygdala, caudate, putamen, pallidum and hippocampus) as regions of inte…

AbstractPurpose of ReviewThe main purpose of this review is to understand how attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) affects geriatrics (elderly population).Recent FindingsADHD is a common neuropsychiatric condition, which is not well studied in geriatrics. Current literature does not have too much information on effects of ADHD in geriatrics. ADHD in elderly population is accompanied by various comorbidities such as anxiety and depression.SummaryThis review will provide an overview of existing literature on prevalence of ADHD in elderly population along with the comorbidities and available treatment options for the same.
